GOT7's Jinyoung Shares Insights on Stage Name and Bond with Members on 'Salon Drip'
On the October 10th episode of 'Salon Drip', Jinyoung appeared alongside Kim Min-ju to promote their new JTBC drama 'Shining'.
During the show, both actors discussed why they use their real names professionally. Jinyoung recalled being given the stage name 'Junior' during his time at JYP Entertainment. He shared, "Since I shared the same name as JYP's Park Jin-young, he called me 'my junior' and gave me that name," reminiscing about how honored he felt at the time. However, his perspective changed over the years.
Kim Min-ju also shared the practical reasons for using her real name, stating, "The name Min-ju is hard to search for because it often brings up results related to democracy or political parties." Jinyoung chimed in, "I face similar issues with my name, often getting results about different factions," causing laughter.
Expressing affection for her younger sister, Kim Min-ju said, "I don't have many friends outside of my group, so my sister keeps me company during breaks." She added, "I save my brother's name as his real name on my phone, but use a nickname for my sister. At home, we rarely use 'brother' as a title and often omit subjects in our conversations," highlighting their sibling chemistry.
He even mentioned instances where they would grab each other by the collar in the broadcasting station's restroom but would perform on stage as if nothing happened. However, these conflicts never lasted long. Jinyoung noted, "We would resolve things within an hour. After all those fights, we have no reason to argue now and have grown closer, like family."
