Korean TV Personality Lee Hwi-jae and Wife Moon Jung-won Resurface After Four Years: Possible Return to Entertainment?
According to a media outlet on the 4th, a close acquaintance of the couple shared updates on Lee Hwi-jae's current status. It has been revealed that the Lee family is currently residing in Canada.
On March 3rd, Moon Jung-won broke her long silence by updating her social media for the first time in about four years. She posted photos and videos with the caption, "It's already March. 2026." The posts included scenes from their daily life in Canada, flowers, and their now-grown twin sons.
While some speculate about the couple's potential return to the entertainment industry following Moon's renewed social media activity, a close source cautiously stated that there have been no discussions about a comeback.
The move to Canada was reportedly influenced by a severe slump Lee experienced at the time. After stepping down from the variety show 'Live Weekly,' he found himself with an open schedule and decided to take a break with his family in Canada.
Another reason for their extended stay is their children's education. Although the initial purpose was for rest, the children adapted well to local life, naturally extending their stay. Rumors of Lee's retirement have been dismissed, with reports indicating that he still intends to work in Korea and has occasionally returned for meetings with broadcasting officials.
Meanwhile, Moon Jung-won faced several controversies, including a 2020 hidden advertisement scandal, a 2021 noise dispute with neighbors, and allegations of not paying for toys at an amusement park. She issued a handwritten apology, acknowledging her responsibility and announcing her decision to take a break.
Lee Hwi-jae also faced criticism for his hosting style and demeanor on past broadcasts, with accusations of rudeness towards fellow entertainers at award shows and variety programs. This led to his hiatus from broadcasting and relocation to Canada with his family. However, with recent updates on their status, there is renewed interest in their potential return to the entertainment scene.
