Netflix's 'Black and White Chef' Winner Kwon Sung-joon Announces New Cafe Venture
On October 2, the YouTube channel 'Calm Man' released a video titled 'A Visit with Napoli Mafia Chef Park Eun-young.' The video features Kwon Sung-joon meeting with YouTuber Calm Man (real name Lee Byung-gun), a former webtoon artist, to share updates on his life.
When Calm Man asked, "How's the restaurant opening going?" Kwon replied, "Construction is set to begin next month." He then added, "I have some news that I think you'll really like. I've decided to open a cafe," capturing attention.
Kwon stated, "This is the first time I'm announcing this news." He explained, "As the restaurant is relocating, the first floor became available. It seemed like the perfect spot for a cafe."
When Calm Man suggested, "Couldn't you just rent it out to someone else?" Kwon responded, "It feels like destiny. It's as if the universe is encouraging me to take on another challenge. This time, I plan to open a trendy cafe with just a hint of Italian flair. No espresso bars, just doing it the traditional way."
Calm Man expressed concern, "The situation is tougher than when you first opened a cafe. Major franchise cafes are already established. Do you think you can compete with the big three?" Kwon confidently replied, "When I first opened a cafe, I wasn't well-known. But now, I'm recognized for my tiramisu, so I think it'll be fine."
Addressing the camera, Kwon said, "I'm planning to open the cafe near Cheonggu Station. I'm looking for tall, handsome staff who are passionate about coffee and want to infuse a bit of Italian charm." His comment brought laughter.
Previously, Kwon had shared on his YouTube channel, "If you ever feel like opening a cafe, think about it three times. If you still want to do it, think again, and it's probably best not to." He had decided to close his cafe 'Via Toledo Espresso Bar' after two years.
Kwon gained attention for developing a tiramisu using chestnut cream during the revival round of 'Black and White Chef' Season 1. After winning the show, he appeared on various programs, including 'Please Take Care of My Refrigerator' and 'Black and White Chef' Season 2, further raising his profile.
