K-Pop Star Kim Junsu Opens Up About His Use of Profanity in Musical 'Beetlejuice'
Former TVXQ member and musical actor Kim Junsu has made a candid confession to his fans after 23 years in the industry.

Kim Junsu recently sat down for an interview at a café in Gangnam, Seoul, to discuss his role in the musical 'Beetlejuice' (directed by Matt DiCarlo and Sim Seol-in).

'Beetlejuice' opened on December 16 last year and has been running for over two months. In each performance, Kim delivers extensive lines peppered with various profanities. When asked if he has become accustomed to the colorful language, he adjusted his posture and said, "There's something I need to clarify about this."

He began by saying, "Fans seem to have misunderstood something." He explained, "When I said I had never used profanity, many thought, 'Junsu can't swear, so it must have been tough for him to act so naturally,' and 'He must have practiced a lot.'"

Kim clarified his previous statement, saying, "I meant that I've never used profanity in an official setting, not that I can't swear at all." He added, "I can use everyday-level profanity when I'm with my younger siblings or joking around."

After realizing the misunderstanding among fans, he admitted, "I was quite embarrassed." He continued, "I'm not someone who swears habitually, but I wanted to set the record straight. I'm saying this because I felt a bit guilty," he confessed with a laugh.

Meanwhile, 'Beetlejuice' is based on the 1988 film about a ghostly classroom. Kim Junsu plays the role of Beetlejuice, a ghost trapped between the living and the dead for 100 billion years, trying to prove his existence. The show is running at the LG Art Center Seoul LG SIGNATURE Hall until March 22.
