Chef Choi Kang-rok Reveals Surprising Drummer Dream on YouTube Show
Choi Kang-rok, the winner of Netflix's survival show 'Black and White Chef' Season 2, recently made headlines by revealing his unexpected past aspiration of becoming a drummer during a meeting with webtoon artist-turned-YouTuber, Calm Man.

On the 24th, the YouTube channel 'Calm Man' released a video titled 'An Intensely Breathless Interview with Choi Kang-rok.' In the video, the two discussed Choi's past, reading through documents that detailed his journey and providing additional explanations.

Calm Man highlighted Choi's surprising background, stating, "Let's read through 'The Unpredictable Life of Choi Kang-rok.'" He focused on Choi's dream of being a drummer and his role as a drummer in his high school band. When asked if he was indeed the band's drummer, Choi clarified, "No, I learned to make beats after high school by enrolling in a computer music academy." He added that his desire to enter university was driven by the ambition to participate in the 'College Music Festival.'

Calm Man inquired if Choi prepared for the festival, to which Choi responded, "I actually made beats. I enrolled in a drum academy and barely attended school," expressing his passion for drumming at the time.

Previously, in January, Choi appeared on the YouTube channel 'Jjanhyeong Shin Dong-yeop' and shared his deep admiration for the late Shin Hae-chul. He confessed that during his college years, he was more engrossed in music than cooking.

After failing to pursue a music career, Choi was accepted into the Spanish Department at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies but eventually dropped out. He then moved to Japan to study culinary arts at the Tsuji Culinary Institute, one of the world's top three culinary schools. Choi gained fame in 2012 by winning CJ ENM's variety show 'MasterChef Korea 2.'
