"I can't let my actions jeopardize the livelihoods of the many staff who work for us. I've felt a sense of responsibility since I was young, striving to avoid negative issues and making cautious choices."
YooA shared these thoughts during an interview at a café in Cheongdam-dong, Seoul, last December. Debuting in 2015 with the group Oh My Girl, YooA, born in 1995, is now stepping into her 30s. Known for her doll-like visuals, unique voice, and graceful dance moves, she has been a defining presence in Oh My Girl. Recently, she announced her transition to acting, drawing significant attention.
The news of her acting debut surprised many fans. In June last year, it was revealed that YooA signed an exclusive contract with the actor-specialized agency, Saram Entertainment. Throughout the interview, YooA expressed her deep affection for her fans and fellow members.
"My members give me unwavering support. They encourage me, saying, 'You can do anything,' 'YooA, you work hard and excel, so you'll do well in whatever you pursue. Have confidence.' Seunghee once mentioned that when she feels shaken, she reminds herself to stay unfazed. I've realized the importance of that mindset and try to adopt it, telling myself, 'It's okay, it's nothing.'"
"So-hee and Jong-seo are around my age, yet they have captivated audiences with their unique characters in challenging environments. I've learned a lot from them. Currently, it's not about wanting to act with a specific person, but the opportunity to work with anyone is an honor."
When asked about her aspirations in acting, YooA responded, "Acting is incredibly challenging, like a spiritual journey. It has deepened my respect for actors. Being on set with anyone is a learning experience."
Despite a decade with Oh My Girl, YooA still feels grateful and renewed by her experiences with the group. She considers her members as the driving force in her life, especially during their 10th-anniversary concert. "Just being on stage together was overwhelming. Oh My Girl took time to be recognized by the public. Each member faced personal struggles and loneliness. On stage, we feel each other's support, asking, 'Are you doing well?'"
Oh My Girl announced a full six-member comeback on the 13th. Despite changes in agency affiliations, the group remains committed to their identity as a six-member team.
