B1A4's Sandeul Opens Up About Self-Doubt Amidst 'Death Note' Musical Performance
Sandeul, a member of the group B1A4 and a musical actor, has candidly shared his objective personality.

On the 11th, an interview with Sandeul, who is currently performing in the musical 'Death Note' (produced by Shin Chun-soo), took place at the D-Cube Link Art Center in Sillim-dong, Seoul.

Sandeul was cast in the role of 'L' in 'Death Note,' which is being performed in celebration of its 10th anniversary. L is the world's greatest detective, who hides his identity while using his genius deductive skills to uncover the essence of cases.

The production began last October. Sandeul mentioned that when he auditioned for 'Death Note,' he was experiencing a period of low self-esteem. Now, over four months into the performance, how does he feel?

Unfortunately, Sandeul admitted, "My self-esteem hasn't improved yet." He confessed, "Compliments make me suspicious," adding, "Trying to understand the audience's criticisms seems to lead me to focus on my shortcomings."

Why does he doubt compliments? Sandeul cited 'complacency' as a reason. He stated, "I want to be the best, but I don't think I'm there yet. So, I feel it's necessary to doubt myself," and expressed his belief that this mindset might help him sustain his career in the long run.

Sandeul continued, "There are still some uncomfortable aspects when I sing, so I'm still working on it," and added, "It's actually good. It means there's still an opportunity to show a better version of myself next time, which feels fortunate."

Meanwhile, Sandeul debuted in 2011 as the main vocalist of B1A4. Just a year later, he began his musical theater career with 'Brothers Were Brave,' and this year marks his 13th anniversary.

'Death Note' is based on the anime of the same name created by Horipro in 2015. The story revolves around Light, who discovers a Death Note and seeks to eradicate evil and achieve justice, and L, the detective who pursues him. The performance runs until May 10.
