Actress Hwang Bo-ra Faces Backlash for Staged Car Accident in Product Promotion

Actress Hwang Bo-ra is under fire for staging a car accident to promote a product on social media.

On October 11, Hwang Bo-ra posted a promotional video on Instagram for a group purchase of macadamia nuts.

In the video, Hwang appears to scream as if she has been in a sudden car accident while driving at night. However, she quickly changes the mood by smiling and asking, "Want some macadamia nuts?" as she promotes the nut product.

She further emphasized a major discount and fast delivery in collaboration with the manufacturer, describing the product as "a perfect gourmet snack for beer" and "ideal for a diet-friendly late-night snack."

The promotional method has been criticized as inappropriate, with many questioning the relevance of a car accident to the product. Critics have also pointed out that Hwang Bo-ra had a past incident in 2007 involving a DUI, suggesting that her current promotional strategy is thoughtless.

Previously, Hwang Bo-ra faced controversy in September last year for posting a photo of her son dangerously hanging from a window frame and another photo in August of her entering a restaurant kitchen.

Meanwhile, Hwang Bo-ra married Cha Hyun-woo, an actor and film producer who is the son of actor Kim Yong-gun and the brother of actor Ha Jung-woo, in 2022. After a long period of infertility, Hwang successfully gave birth to her son, Woo-in, in May 2024 after four rounds of IVF.
