Singer Kim Soo-chul Remembers Late Actor Ahn Sung-ki with Tears on KBS1's 'Morning Yard'
On the October 10th episode of KBS1's current affairs program 'Morning Yard', Kim Soo-chul appeared on the 'Tuesday Guest' segment to share updates on his life.
Having worked across both popular and traditional Korean music, Kim became emotional when the song 'A Thousand-Year Crane' from the movie 'Seopyeonje', which he composed, played. He shared a special bond with actor Ahn Sung-ki.
Kim explained, "Researching traditional Korean music didn't bring in profits, making it difficult to cover recording costs." He continued, "When I confided in Ahn Sung-ki about needing funds for my studies, he transferred a large sum the very next day, allowing me to complete the recordings successfully."
According to Kim, even 7-8 years later, Ahn's support remained unwavering when he sought help again. Kim expressed deep posthumous gratitude, saying, "Most would question why I continued with something unprofitable, but he simply asked how much I needed and transferred the amount the next day."
Regarding their last interactions, Kim said, "We kept in touch sporadically until his condition worsened, leading to paralysis, which made communication difficult." He added, "I sensed the end was near during a call with his wife," before breaking down in tears.
Actor Ahn Sung-ki passed away last month at the age of 74. He had been battling blood cancer since 2019 and collapsed at home due to airway obstruction while eating. Despite being transferred to the ICU, he never regained consciousness and passed away.
