YouTuber Oliver Sam has shared the sad news of his stepfather Brad's passing.

On the 9th, Oliver Sam announced on his YouTube channel and community, "Last Friday afternoon, Grandpa Brad passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family." He added, "Although it's winter, that day was unusually warm and sunny, the kind of weather my father loved the most. He completed his long journey in the most 'him' way, listening to the laughter of children."

He continued, "Above all, our family is incredibly grateful to have been by his side in his final moments," and expressed his gratitude to everyone who prayed for Brad and supported their family journey with warmth. He mentioned that he plans to spend some time with his family, reminiscing about the deceased.

Brad was Oliver Sam's stepfather and reportedly passed away after battling terminal pancreatic cancer. Previously, Oliver Sam had disclosed Brad's illness and discussed the realities of the American healthcare system and the burden of high medical costs. During this time, the possibility of returning to Korea was considered but was retracted considering his mother, who would be left alone in the U.S.

Subsequently, some online speculated about 'free-riding' on the Korean healthcare system, sparking controversy. In response, Oliver Sam clarified, "I never considered going to Korea to use health insurance," and expressed regret over the misinterpretation of his intentions. He stated, "Korea is my second home, but right now, I have no choice but to prioritize my family."

Meanwhile, Oliver Sam runs a YouTube channel 'Oliver Sam' with approximately 2.25 million subscribers. He previously worked as an English instructor in Korea before transitioning to a YouTuber. He married his Korean wife in 2016 and has two daughters. Since 2018, he has been residing in the United States.
