Netflix's 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' OST 'GOLDEN' Wins at 68th Grammy Awards
'GOLDEN' was announced as the winner in the 'Best Song Written For Visual Media' category during the Grammy Awards Premiere Ceremony held in Los Angeles on the 1st (local time). This category honors outstanding songs written specifically for visual media such as films and TV shows, awarding the songwriters.
With this win, contributors to the song, including writer EJAE, producer Teddy, producer 24, and composers Idio (Yoo Han Lee, Joong Kyu Kwak, Hee Dong Nam), have become Grammy winners. While there have been previous Korean Grammy winners like music engineer Hwang Byung Joon and Korean-American Young In, this marks the first time a K-pop composer or producer has won at this prestigious event.
'GOLDEN' has made a global impact alongside the film's success. It became the first K-pop song to simultaneously top the US Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Official Singles Chart Top 100. At this year's awards, 'GOLDEN' was nominated in a total of five categories, including 'Song of the Year'.
Producer 24 expressed his gratitude after the win, stating, "Though he couldn't be here with us, I dedicate this honor to my greatest mentor and closest friend, the 'Pioneer of K-pop', Teddy."
Meanwhile, in the 'Best Pop Duo/Group Performance' category, which also featured nominations for Rosé's 'APT.' and the group Cat's Eye's 'Gabriela', the award went to Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande for their rendition of 'Defying Gravity' from the 'Wicked' soundtrack.
Rosé's 'APT.' is currently nominated for 'Song of the Year' and 'Record of the Year'. The results for major Grammy categories like 'Song of the Year', 'Record of the Year', and 'Album of the Year' will be announced at the main ceremony to follow.
