K-Pop Star Hwang Young-woong Denies School Violence Allegations After Three Years
K-pop singer Hwang Young-woong has officially denied allegations of school violence, breaking a three-year silence.

On the 27th, Hwang's management stated, "We are releasing an official statement to correct the truth regarding the 'school violence' allegations that arose during the cancellation of the Gangjin Celadon Festival stage and other incidents."

They explained, "Hwang's silence at the time of the controversy was not because the allegations were true. It was a decision made out of concern that the public stage and fellow artists might be affected."

Furthermore, they emphasized, "A significant portion of the allegations that have been circulated are maliciously edited or unverified claims. Hwang Young-woong clarifies that while there may have been disputes or wandering among friends during his school days, he never continuously bullied anyone or engaged in the sadistic behavior reported."

Finally, they added, "Hwang has taken time to reflect, but he can no longer allow indiscriminate falsehoods to be accepted as truth. We deeply thank the fans who have believed in and waited for Hwang Young-woong. Now, he will boldly reveal the truth, restore his honor as a singer, and strive to prevent such unjust cases from occurring again."

Hwang Young-woong gained recognition through MBN's 'Burning Trotman' in 2023. Although he was a favorite to win, he withdrew from the program due to controversies over school violence and other personal issues. Since then, he has focused on solo performances for his fan base.

Hwang was scheduled to perform at the 'Sound of Celadon Concert' during the 54th Gangjin Celadon Festival on February 28. His agency, Golden Voice, announced on January 22 via the official fan cafe, "You can see him at the event stage on the last weekend of February. Please come and cheer him on for his first event."

Following this announcement, complaints opposing Hwang's appearance were posted on the Gangjin County Office website. Ultimately, the performance was canceled after internal review.
