Heiress Hwang Hana Arrested in South Korea on Drug Charges After Fleeing Abroad
The Gyeonggi Gwacheon Police Station announced on the 24th that Hwang was apprehended on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act. She is accused of administering methamphetamine to two acquaintances in the Gangnam area of Seoul in 2023. The police have stated that further investigation is required to uncover more details about the alleged crimes.
According to the police, Hwang fled to Southeast Asia and illegally entered Cambodia after becoming a suspect in the drug investigation. An Interpol Blue Notice was issued to locate her, and she recently expressed her intention to surrender to the authorities, leading to her arrest.
Previously, Hwang was indicted for administering methamphetamine three times at her residence in Seoul between May and September 2015. She received a one-year prison sentence with a two-year probation in 2019. Despite being on probation, she was again charged with drug use and sentenced to one year and eight months in prison.
