Korean Actress Nam Bo-ra Announces Pregnancy on 'New Release, Pyeonstorang'

Korean actress Nam Bo-ra has announced her pregnancy on the popular KBS 2TV show 'New Release, Pyeonstorang'.

On the episode aired on the 12th, Nam Bo-ra, known as the 'eldest daughter of 13 siblings', shared the exciting news of her pregnancy.

During the show, Nam Bo-ra invited her mother to her newlywed home with a view of the Han River. Her mother, making her first appearance on a variety show, humorously commented, "There should be a baby in the newlywed home, but there's a dog instead," bringing laughter to the audience.

While watching the VCR in the studio, Nam Bo-ra revealed, "I am currently five weeks pregnant," surprising everyone. She added, "I'm just before the morning sickness stage. There was no baby during the filming, but now there is," and shared a four-week ultrasound photo, receiving many congratulations.

Nam Bo-ra recalled her pregnancy dream, saying, "It was a dream about a stingray flying in the sky. I caught it with a fishing rod and shared it with people. They said I should eat what I caught."

She surprised her husband with the pregnancy news by decorating the front door with a message saying, 'Congratulations on becoming a dad', along with balloons, a pregnancy test, and an ultrasound photo.

Her husband, initially in disbelief, asked, "Really?" and then, looking at the ultrasound photo, said, "How do you see this? Is the black dot the baby's home? Congratulations, Bo-ra," showing his emotional reaction.

Nam Bo-ra mentioned that her parents are still unaware of her pregnancy. She plans to reveal it while watching the broadcast with them, showcasing her playful side.

The baby's nickname is 'Kongaltan', meaning 'strong bean', reflecting their wish for the baby to grow strong. She explained, "We initially thought of 'Kongal' (bean), but my husband suggested adding something strong, so it became 'Kongaltan'."

The Pyeonstorang members expressed their excitement, saying, "It's great to have so many family members to take care of the baby. The baby will have 12 aunts and uncles."

Nam Bo-ra shared that her husband was a lifelong bachelor until they met. "He wasn't against marriage, but he was busy with studies in his 20s and then served in the military. He remained single until his early 30s, and I was his first girlfriend," she revealed.

When asked by fellow cast members how she knew he was inexperienced in dating, Nam Bo-ra said, "During our dates, he wouldn't hold my hand. I wondered why he wasn't expressing himself, and when I asked, he said he didn't know how to hold hands."

In response to a playful question from Kang Soo-jung about how they managed to conceive, Nam Bo-ra joked, "I'm the eldest daughter in a big family, so I think I took the lead."

Nam Bo-ra married a businessman of the same age in May 2025, and they are now expecting their first child just seven months into their marriage.
