BTS RM's Controversial Remarks Amid Dating Rumors Stir Fan Tensions

The dating rumors surrounding BTS's Jungkook and aespa's Winter have sparked discussions, with BTS leader RM's recent comments adding fuel to the fire. Despite multiple pieces of circumstantial evidence, neither party has addressed the rumors, and RM's live broadcast has further stirred negative sentiments within the fandom.

On November 6, RM engaged with fans through a live broadcast on the Weverse platform. During the candid conversation, some of his remarks unexpectedly sparked controversy.

The most contentious topic was his mention of disbandment. RM stated, "Of course, we've changed. You have changed too. Still, we need to move to the next stage. I've contemplated disbanding countless times." BTS had previously shocked fans with disbandment talks, notably when member Jin mentioned considering it during an award acceptance speech in 2018.

Fans are understandably anxious about the possibility of the group they've supported for so long disappearing suddenly. Many feel that RM's mention of disbandment was inappropriate, interpreting it as a tactic to quell negative opinions. His comment about "change" was also seen as implying a loss of their original spirit, further fueling the controversy.

RM also shared his struggles with leading the group, saying, "All the members are in their thirties. I can't even take care of my own body and mind, so how can I lead the team? I often question my own qualifications." This worried fans, especially since groups like g.o.d and Super Junior have continued to perform as complete units well into their thirties. Some argue that the issue is more about passion and commitment to group activities rather than age. The comments also raised concerns about the strength of the members' relationships.

Fans have been eagerly awaiting BTS's return as a full group, with their last complete performance in 2022. After patiently waiting through a three-year hiatus, RM's comments left many feeling disappointed.

RM also made comments that could lead to unnecessary speculation. He said, "Many ask why we did nothing in the second half of 2025. We didn't want to waste time. We wanted to engage in various activities after our military service. However, there are things I can't disclose, and reasons we decided not to be active in the latter half. I don't have the right to say more."

Following the broadcast, K-pop fans speculated that it might be related to HYBE's new group, Cortis, which debuted in August. Some believe BTS's schedule was delayed to boost the rookie group's visibility. RM's lack of detailed explanation has led to unnecessary speculation, potentially burdening the new group.

With Jungkook following Jimin in facing dating rumors, RM's comments have compounded the situation, leading some fans to feel more fatigued than joyful from their fandom activities. The ongoing controversies seem to be dampening expectations for BTS's full-group activities next year.
