Ariana Grande Faces Unwanted Encounter at 'Wicked: For Good' Premiere
On the 13th, at the Universal Studios Singapore premiere of 'Wicked: For Good,' Ariana Grande, who plays Glinda, was walking the red carpet along the Yellow Brick Road with co-stars Michelle Yeoh, Cynthia Erivo, and Jeff Goldblum. Suddenly, a man in a white shirt and shorts jumped over the barricade and rushed towards Grande.
The man grabbed Grande's arm, pulling her towards him, causing her to look startled and attempt to move away. Cynthia Erivo quickly intervened, placing herself between Grande and the man, while security swiftly subdued him.
The scene quickly descended into chaos, but Grande, with the help of Erivo and Yeoh, tried to regain her composure. Despite their support, she continued the event with a visibly shaken expression.
The assailant was identified as Johnson Wen, known online as 'Pyjama Man.' Shortly after the incident, he posted on social media, "Dear Ariana Grande, thank you for letting me jump onto the yellow carpet with you," showing no remorse. The post was later deleted after receiving backlash.
According to international media, Wen has a history of crashing celebrity events. He previously jumped on stage during a Katy Perry concert in June and was stopped at The Weeknd's concert in August. He also trespassed at the 2024 Paris Olympics athletics stadium, leading to accusations of being a habitual stalker.
Meanwhile, Ariana Grande has previously revealed that she suffers from PTSD following the 2017 Manchester concert bombing. Concerns are rising that this incident could trigger a recurrence of her psychological trauma.
The film 'Wicked: For Good' explores the friendship between Elphaba, a witch unafraid of public scrutiny, and Glinda, a good witch fearful of losing love. It is set to release on the 19th.
