K-Pop Icon Lee Hyori Returns to Seoul: Yoga Studio Launch and New MC Role

Reporter Kim Se-ah from TenAsia delves deeply into entertainment industry issues.
Celebrating her 28th year in the entertainment industry, K-pop icon Lee Hyori has returned to Seoul after a decade in Jeju, marking a new chapter in her career. Her comeback includes opening a yoga studio and resuming her role as a solo MC after 1 year and 9 months.
Lee Hyori recently opened a yoga studio named 'Ananda' in Yeonhui-dong, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, after leaving Jeju. The news that Lee herself would be teaching classes led to the September one-day class selling out within an hour. Participants praised the classes, saying, "I want to attend again," and "I felt at peace during the session."
Lee Hyori has consistently showcased her dedication to yoga and meditation through various broadcasts. Known for her nature-friendly and simple lifestyle in Jeju, she has become a 'healing icon.' Now, she shares her philosophy in the heart of Seoul.

However, there are concerns. Despite Lee Hyori's star power, 'The Seasons' recorded a disappointing 0% viewership rating. Many attributed this to the show's late-night music talk show format, which was not mainstream. This has raised questions about 'MC Lee Hyori's' influence. 'Just Makeup' faces similar challenges with its limited OTT platform release and niche makeup survival theme.

While the yoga studio has already received a warm reception, with Lee Hyori's authenticity as a yoga instructor being recognized, ensuring stable growth, 'Just Makeup' faces challenges due to the previous show's poor performance and its niche theme. However, considering the production team's capabilities and Lee Hyori's MC experience, there is potential for unexpected success. All eyes are on Lee Hyori to see what results she will achieve amid expectations and concerns.
