Singer Sean Completes 81.5km Marathon, Donates $1.8 Million for Independence Patriots' Descendants
On August 15, marking the 80th anniversary of Korea's Liberation Day, singer Sean successfully completed an 81.5km marathon, raising and donating over 2.3 billion won (approximately $1.8 million).

The '2025 815 Run', organized by Sean and Habitat for Humanity Korea, is a charity marathon aimed at commemorating Liberation Day and expressing gratitude to independence patriots. It also spreads the positive message, 'It will be okay, Korea!' This year, a record-breaking 19,450 participants registered within just 24 days.

Despite the sweltering August heat, Sean completed the marathon in 7 hours, 50 minutes, and 22 seconds. Around 4,000 offline participants joined him at Seoul's World Cup Park, celebrating Liberation Day with a special concert featuring Sean and singer Sohyang.

Donations from 110 sponsoring companies, including The North Face and Miracle365, along with the full registration fees from 19,450 participants, were donated to Habitat for Humanity Korea. The total donation of over 2.3 billion won will be used to improve the living conditions of the descendants of independence patriots.

Sean expressed, "Starting Liberation Day morning with an 81.5km run is my way of thanking the independence patriots and their descendants. I am also grateful to all the runners who shared this sentiment."

Since 2020, Sean has been conducting the '8.15 Run' and the '3.1 Run' since 2021, annually campaigning for housing improvements for the descendants of independence patriots on Liberation Day and March 1st Movement Day. With the funds raised, new homes have been dedicated to 19 families of independence patriots, and construction is underway for the 20th to 22nd homes.

Sean is a leading figure in promoting a culture of 'good running' and philanthropy. His charitable efforts extend beyond housing improvements for independence patriots' descendants, including donating photo shoot proceeds, supporting children domestically and internationally, aiding in the construction of children's rehabilitation hospitals, delivering coal briquettes, and contributing to the world's first ALS nursing hospital. His total donations amount to approximately 6.5 billion won ($4.9 million), impacting various social causes.
