Celebrities Rally to Support Flood Victims with Generous Donations

The recent record-breaking rainfall across the nation from the 16th to the 20th has resulted in 18 deaths and 9 missing persons. In response, several celebrities have stepped up to donate and support those who have lost their homes.

The donation drive was initiated by the beloved national MC, Yoo Jae-suk. On the second day of the heavy rains, Yoo was the first among celebrities to offer help, donating 50 million won through Hope Bridge. He expressed his heavy heart over the tragic news of those affected and hoped that the damage would not worsen.

As the relentless downpour continued, the donation efforts expanded. Actor Jin Tae-hyun, despite recovering from thyroid cancer surgery, donated 10 million won with his wife, Park Si-eun, on the 19th. Jin shared on his social media, "We decided to donate our hard-earned gratitude offering to those in need. I am thankful to be able to help and will continue to live diligently, hoping that sharing brings joy."

Another celebrity couple, Hong Hyun-hee and Jason, also contributed 20 million won, stating, "Seeing the images of the damage on the news was heartbreaking. Although the rain will stop soon, recovery will take time, and we hope for a swift recovery."

Even amidst busy schedules, stars extended their support. TVXQ member Yunho donated 50 million won through the Community Chest of Korea. He expressed his hope that his contribution would provide some relief to those struggling due to the sudden rain damage, urging them to stay strong and healthy.

Actress Joo Hyun-young, currently promoting her film 'Ghost Train' and filming the new ENA drama 'Good Woman Busemi,' donated 20 million won to aid the flood victims.

The spirit of giving continues even as the heatwave follows the heavy rains. Singer Lim Young-woong donated 200 million won in the name of his fan club, 'Hero Era,' expressing his hope that his small gesture would comfort the flood victims and wishing for their swift return to normalcy.

Singer and actress Kim Se-jeong also donated 10 million won, expressing her desire to provide even a small amount of support to those affected. Actress Lee Hye-young continued her charitable acts with a 20 million won donation, while comedian Lee Seung-yoon and webtoon artist Lee Mal-nyeon (Calm Man) each donated 10 million won, offering encouragement to those going through tough times.

WINNER's Kang Seung-yoon and Chae Jong-hyeop also showed their warm hearts by donating 12 million won and 10 million won, respectively.

A common thread among these celebrities is their willingness to open their wallets during national disasters, such as the wildfires in Gyeongbuk and Gyeongnam last March. Their generosity has often inspired ordinary citizens to join the donation relay.

These heartfelt donations from celebrities, regardless of the amount, are expected to provide not only comfort and empathy to the flood victims but also significant support in overcoming adversity.
