Actress Seo Hyun-jin Faces Financial Loss in Jeonse Fraud Case
Actress Seo Hyun-jin has reportedly fallen victim to a jeonse fraud scheme.

According to a media report on the 2nd, Seo Hyun-jin was unable to recover the deposit from her rented home and filed for auction in April.

Court auction information reveals that Seo Hyun-jin signed a jeonse contract in April 2020 for 2.5 billion KRW (approximately $2.1 million) and completed the registration. In 2022, she renewed the contract with an increased deposit of 2.625 billion KRW (approximately $2.2 million).

However, by the contract's expiration in April last year, she had not received her deposit back from the landlord. Seo Hyun-jin vacated the property after completing a tenant registration in September of the same year and initiated auction proceedings in April this year.

The exclusive report stated that the property is considered a 'can-jeonse,' where the appraised value is around 2.873 billion KRW (approximately $2.4 million), but the minimum bid has dropped to approximately 2.2989 billion KRW (approximately $1.9 million) after a failed auction attempt.

Experts suggest that for Seo Hyun-jin to recover her deposit, a bidder would need to offer over 2.6 billion KRW (approximately $2.2 million), which seems unlikely, potentially leading to financial loss for the actress.

A representative from her agency, Management SOOP, commented on the reports, stating, "It's difficult to confirm as it's a private matter."
