Hong Seok-cheon Celebrates 25 Years Since Coming Out with Prestigious Award
Korean entertainer Hong Seok-cheon has been honored with an award on the 25th anniversary of his coming out.

On October 17, Hong shared a photo on his social media holding a trophy, marking the milestone since his public coming out in 2000. He expressed, "It's been 25 years since I came out."

He continued, "I received the Pride Award at the 5th Pride Gala Party. This award is a recognition of the short yet long journey of struggle, the lonely but enduring times, and the efforts of the past 25 years. I am grateful and comforted by this honor."

Hong added, "Let's create a world where everyone can dream of happiness without discrimination. I dream of a warm society that acknowledges and embraces differences. I am thankful to be alive."

Born in 1971, Hong Seok-cheon is 54 years old and debuted in the entertainment industry in 1995 as part of KBS's 12th open recruitment. He was the first celebrity in Korea to come out publicly. Currently, he hosts the web variety show 'Hong Seok-cheon's Jewel Box.'
