Controversy Arises Over Math Instructor Jeong Seung-je's Remarks on Wendy's Radio Show

Renowned math instructor Jeong Seung-je recently appeared on a radio show, sparking controversy with his comments directed at DJ Wendy.

Jeong Seung-je, alongside Jeong Hyeong-don, appeared on SBS PowerFM's 'Wendy's Young Street' on the 15th to promote their new project group XY's single 'LEFT RIGHT'.

During the show, Jeong Hyeong-don expressed his delight at seeing Wendy, commenting, "You seem more mature since the last time we met." Jeong Seung-je added, "You have an announcer-like aura." Wendy responded, "I guess it's because I've been a DJ for a while."

However, the cheerful atmosphere soon shifted.

Jeong Hyeong-don inquired about Wendy's tenure as a DJ. Wendy explained, "I took a break and then returned, so it's been about two and a half to three years." Jeong Hyeong-don jokingly asked, "Did you take a break due to pay issues or a fight with the writer?" Wendy laughed it off, saying, "No, I left briefly to pursue musical theater but returned because I love radio."

Jeong Seung-je then remarked, "I guess the musical didn't go well," which created an awkward moment. Sensing the tension, Jeong Hyeong-don joked to Wendy, "Do you regret inviting him?"

Wendy, momentarily taken aback, quickly regained her composure, stating, "I can do both. I believe in myself," and added humorously, "I was cold earlier and used a hot pack, but now I wish I wore a sleeveless top because it's warm."

After the broadcast, some listeners criticized Jeong Seung-je's comments as belittling Wendy's endeavors, questioning, "Why doesn't he stick to teaching math instead of appearing on shows?" Others defended the remarks as light-hearted jokes meant to liven up the atmosphere.

In response to the controversy, SBS Radio's official channel 'Erao' edited and uploaded the segment, omitting the contentious remarks.
