Jennie explained the reason behind naming her first solo album 'Ruby': "I wanted to be an artist who can open and close the curtains of my own show. During this process, I thought of the red curtains of a theater, and after much consideration, I decided on the album concept. The color red, 'Ruby', came to mind. I wanted to encapsulate my identity in my first solo album with 'Ruby'."
