Koo Jun-yup Mourns the Loss of Wife Barbie Hsu Amidst Media Scrutiny

Koo expressed, "On the 2nd, my angel returned to the sky. I am going through an indescribable time of sorrow and pain that feels like my insides are being torn apart," adding, "I have no strength to speak, nor do I want to."
He also voiced his anger towards fake news. Koo stated, "Before the time of great loss and mourning could pass, malicious people began to slander our family and my love," and continued, "Some pretend to be sad while others create fake news about insurance and costs to hurt our family. Can you please let my wife rest in peace?"
Addressing speculations about the inheritance, he said, "The inheritance, which Hsu worked hard to save for her beloved family, will be given to my mother-in-law. Additionally, I will take legal measures through a lawyer to protect the children's rights until they reach adulthood."
Barbie Hsu passed away on February 2nd due to acute pneumonia caused by the flu while on a family trip to Japan for the Lunar New Year. She was cremated in Japan, and her estate is reportedly valued at approximately 600 million yuan (120 billion won).
Koo Jun-yup, along with Hsu's mother, arrived at Taipei Songshan Airport in northern Taiwan on a private jet operated by VistaJet from Tokyo's Haneda Airport on the afternoon of the 5th. Despite wearing a hat and mask to conceal his face, Koo's eyes were filled with sorrow. He was seen holding a pink urn containing Hsu's ashes and requested an acquaintance to shield it with an umbrella to prevent his wife from being startled by the press.
According to local media, a farewell ceremony was expected in Taiwan, but Koo and the family decided not to hold any events, wishing for a quiet farewell.

Upon hearing of Hsu's divorce, Koo reached out to her through her old number, rekindling their relationship. They reunited and announced their marriage, enjoying their newlywed life between Taiwan and Korea, often expressing their affection for each other on social media.
Hsu's sister, Dee Hsu, shared the sad news, stating, "During our family trip to Japan for the Lunar New Year, my most loving and kind sister Barbie left us due to pneumonia caused by the flu." She added, "I am grateful to have been her sister in this life and will cherish the time we supported and cared for each other. Rest in peace, sister. I love you forever." This statement was also posted on their joint Instagram account documenting their activities.
Barbie Hsu debuted in 1994 with her sister Dee as part of the group 'SOS,' later changing their name to 'ASOS' due to a dispute with their agency.
