Tensions Rise as Girls' Generation's Taeyeon and Red Velvet's Wendy Withdraw from SM Entertainment's 30th Anniversary Concert
Girls' Generation's Taeyeon has opened up about her absence from SM Entertainment's 30th anniversary concert 'SMTOWN', sparking potential controversy. Adding to the discontent among fans, Red Velvet's Wendy has also announced her withdrawal from the event.

Through a fan communication platform, Taeyeon revealed on the 6th, "I wanted to perform on stage with enthusiasm, aiming to prepare two or three songs. I communicated this to the company and waited, but to put it simply, they didn't prepare anything, so I couldn't perform at all."

Taeyeon subtly expressed her dissatisfaction with her agency, stating, "It's not that I lack motivation or don't want to perform. I am sincere about the stage and want to give my best, but they didn't support me well, so I'm seriously considering what this is all about." Her candid remarks have caught attention.

Addressing her fans, known as SONE, she added, "I'm sharing this to prevent any misunderstandings about me." Taeyeon had previously announced her absence from the concert on December 12 last year, without specifying reasons, which led to speculations of discord between her and SM Entertainment.

In addition to Taeyeon, Wendy from Red Velvet has also announced her absence from the concert. SM Entertainment informed through Melon Ticket, "Wendy will not be performing due to personal reasons. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the change in lineup."

Wendy also commented on the fan platform, "The discussion with the company happened over a month ago, but the announcement was only made today."

With both Taeyeon and Wendy withdrawing from the 30th anniversary SMTOWN concert, rumors of discord between the artists and SM Entertainment have resurfaced.

SM Entertainment is set to hold the 'SMTOWN LIVE 2025 in Seoul' concert on November 11-12 at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul. The event will feature performances by a majority of SM Entertainment artists, including Kangta, BoA, TVXQ, Super Junior, Hyoyeon, SHINee's Key and Minho, EXO's Suho and Chanyeol, Red Velvet, NCT 127, NCT Dream, aespa, and RIIZE.
