Comedian Byun Ki-soo Criticizes KBS Entertainment Awards for Overlooking Comedians

Comedian Byun Ki-soo has raised concerns over the alleged neglect of comedians at the KBS Entertainment Awards.

On December 21, Byun Ki-soo took to Instagram to express his frustration, stating, "Can't they at least give one award to a comedian? It's an entertainment awards show that only favors singers." He also shared screenshots of singer Zico and aespa's Karina, who were recipients of awards.

At the '2024 KBS Entertainment Awards,' singer Zico ('The Seasons') and aespa's Karina ('Syncro You') were awarded the Rookie of the Year in the Show Variety category. In the Reality category, actor Lee Sang-woo ('New Release Pyeonstorang') and singer Park Seo-jin ('Men Who Do Housework') took home the Rookie of the Year awards. The grand prize was awarded to singer Lee Chan-won.

Additionally, singer Jang Min-ho ('New Release Pyeonstorang') received the Top Excellence Award, while former MBLAQ member Lee Joon ('2 Days & 1 Night') and singer Lee Young-ji ('The Seasons') won the Excellence Awards. Even the Best Couple Award went to singers Eun Ji-won and Baek Ji-young ('Men Who Do Housework').

Comedians did receive some recognition, with Shin Seung-yoon ('Gag Concert') winning the Top Excellence Award and Jung Tae-ho and Nam Hyun-seung ('Gag Concert') taking the Best Couple Award. The 'Simgok Police Station' segment also won the Best Idea Award.

Other nominees for the grand prize included broadcaster Yoo Jae-suk ('Syncro You'), actor Ryu Soo-young ('New Release Pyeonstorang'), broadcaster Jun Hyun-moo ('Boss in the Mirror'), and Koyote's Kim Jong-min ('2 Days & 1 Night').
