BLACKPINK's Rosé Opens Up About Collaboration with Bruno Mars and Bandmates' Reactions
BLACKPINK's Rosé recently shared insights into her collaboration with pop star Bruno Mars and how her bandmates reacted to the news.
Appearing on JTBC's 'Newsroom' on the 1st, Rosé discussed her experience working on the track 'APT.' with Bruno Mars.
Rosé explained, "I've been working overseas and mostly seeing reactions online. It wasn't until I returned to Korea a few days ago and saw so many people welcoming me at the airport that it really hit me." She added, "I've seen a lot of parodies on YouTube and read many comments."
Regarding her BLACKPINK bandmates' reactions, she shared, "When the song was released, Lisa called me via video chat, and we talked for two hours. The members also send me videos when they hear the song playing outside." Rosé also revealed how the song came to be. "While working on an album overseas, I introduced my foreign friends to the Korean drinking game 'Apt.' while eating a late-night burger. We joked about making a song out of it, and the next day, I actually wrote it," she said. When asked if she anticipated the song's popularity, she replied, "Seeing my white friends react positively, I thought they might like it, but I never imagined it would be this big." Rosé expressed her excitement about working with Bruno Mars, saying, "It was surreal. He was incredibly helpful, inspiring, and offered a lot of advice for my first album. He even asked me to mention how amazing he is on the news today."
She also shared behind-the-scenes details of recording with Bruno Mars. "During recording, my voice was still hoarse, but he was there, demonstrating and directing me. As a huge fan, it was surreal to have him singing and guiding me right in front of me," she said.
When asked about future collaborations with other pop stars, Rosé responded, "Nothing specific at the moment. The collaboration with Bruno Mars happened naturally. I'm open to fun collaborations if opportunities arise."
