Singer Jung Mi-ae Triumphs Over Cancer Scare, Shares Emotional Journey
Singer Jung Mi-ae recently shared her emotional journey after receiving a clean bill of health following a cancer scare.
On the 29th, Jung Mi-ae revealed, "Two months ago, I was told I needed a re-examination. My world was nothing but darkness during those two months... But today, with the professor's words 'It's clean, there's nothing wrong,' I saw the light again."
Jung Mi-ae also shared an image of herself receiving an injection. She continued, "It's been three years. Now, I only need to get checked every six months. It's been tough, but let's keep going! We can do it, National Cancer Center!" she exclaimed with determination.
Jung Mi-ae rose to fame through TV Chosun's 'Miss Trot,' where she was loved for her exceptional vocal talent. She also received public support as a celebrity mom of multiple children.
In 2022, Jung Mi-ae shocked everyone by revealing on KBS 1TV's 'Human Theater' that she had been diagnosed with stage 3 tongue cancer. She underwent an extensive eight-hour surgery, during which a third of her tongue was removed. Due to the high recurrence rate of this cancer, she lived in constant fear and anxiety for six months post-surgery.
Returning to the stage through KBS 2TV's 'Immortal Songs,' Jung Mi-ae shared, "It felt like the sky was falling. At first, I thought I couldn't continue as a singer. But having sung for so long, I couldn't give it up even after the surgery. I went through extensive rehabilitation. With constant practice, even the pronunciations that were difficult became possible," she said, shedding tears.
