Jungkook of BTS Triumphs with Three Wins at 2024 MAMA Awards
On November 23rd, at the '2024 MAMA AWARDS' held at Kyocera Dome Osaka in Japan, Jungkook was honored with the 'Best Male Artist' and 'Best Dance Performance Male Solo' awards. This achievement follows his win in the 'Fans' Choice Male Top 10' category during 'MAMA' Chapter 1, bringing his total to three awards.
Jungkook was recognized for his title track 'Standing Next to You' from his first solo album 'GOLDEN', released in November last year, earning him the 'Best Dance Performance Male Solo' award. His performance, characterized by a 'complete performance' style, has solidified his status as a leading dance solo artist of the 2020s. The choreography, featuring a standing microphone and a captivating solo dance, captured the hearts of music fans worldwide. Additionally, the release of 'Standing Next to You - Usher Remix' in December last year showcased an extraordinary performance video with 'R&B King' Usher.
BTS members collectively secured a total of seven trophies, including Jungkook's three wins. Jimin claimed two awards, including the 'VISA Fans' Choice of the Year', one of the four grand prize categories, and 'Fans' Choice Male Top 10'. RM and V also received the 'Fans' Choice Male Top 10' trophy.
Notably, BTS has won the 'Fans' Choice of the Year' award for six consecutive years since its inception in 2018, with Jimin continuing the legacy this year, showcasing their enduring popularity.
Meanwhile, Jungkook made a significant impact on the global music scene with his first solo single 'Seven (feat. Latto)' released in July last year. The track debuted at No. 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and achieved 1 billion streams on Spotify in record time, cementing its status as a 'mega hit song'.
Furthermore, his solo singles '3D (feat. Jack Harlow)' released in September 2023 and 'Standing Next to You' in November both entered the 'Hot 100' at No. 5. Jungkook is the only Korean solo artist to have three songs in the top 5 of this chart.
