ATEEZ, EJel, Lee Dong-hwi, and Crush to Shine on 'The Seasons - Lee Young-ji's Rainbow'
'The Seasons - Lee Young-ji's Rainbow' is set to feature ATEEZ, EJel, Lee Dong-hwi, and Crush.
The boy group ATEEZ will showcase a band version of 'BOUNCY (K-HOT CHILLI PEPPERS)', highlighting the spicy essence of Korea. Known for their all-Korean lineup, ATEEZ crafted this song with the theme of 'Cheongyang chili pepper', a symbol of Korean spiciness. They made history as the first K-pop boy group to perform at Coachella, collaborating with the Bongsan Talchum Preservation Society to perfect their performance. Lee Young-ji praised their stage, saying, “It felt like they were declaring, 'We are here.'” The group's dedication is evident, with member Yeosang once continuing a performance despite a broken finger, and Seonghwa revealing he broke a rib from coughing during a tour but didn't want to disappoint fans. ATEEZ prepared extensively for their first appearance on 'The Seasons', with vocalists Jongho, Seonghwa, and Yunho performing the drama OST 'A Day' and rappers Hongjoong and Mingi presenting 'POWER', a tribute song for 'Rainbow'. Their diverse performances, including the new track 'Ice On My Teeth', can be seen on the show.
The segment 'It's Like My Tomorrow', which introduces promising musicians, will feature singer-songwriter EJel. Just 20 days into her debut, EJel shared her journey of perseverance, having auditioned over 100 times and participated in shows like 'K-pop Star 6', 'Focus', 'Show Queen', and 'Sing Again 3', where she eventually placed third. Despite harsh critiques from industry veterans like Park Jin-young and Sung Si-kyung, she never gave up. On 'Rainbow', she chose to perform a well-known song instead of her debut track to gain more recognition, presenting a rock-infused version of Kiss of Life's Natty's solo song 'Sugarcoat'.
Actor Lee Dong-hwi, known for his irreplaceable roles, will also appear. A music enthusiast, he follows 'The Seasons' on social media and frequently engages with its content. Lee, a fan of Lee Young-ji, shared amusing anecdotes about their first meeting and his feelings of being 'ghosted' by her, leading to a humorous exchange. The duo showcased unexpected chemistry with a duet performance of YDG's 'Mirror', marking Lee's first attempt at rapping, which, despite some lyrical mishaps, was met with support. He also performed Harim's 'Departure', a song suggested by Suzy, revealing his nerves about singing without sunglasses for the first time. Lee's musical journey on 'Rainbow' can be seen on the broadcast.
The final guest, singer Crush, heated up the stage with a surprise performance of 'Rush Hour'. Celebrating his 13th year in the industry, Crush cited Quincy Jones as a major musical influence, sharing a memorable encounter with the legend in LA. After a performance, he expressed his admiration to Jones, who reciprocated the sentiment. Crush reminisced about this moment while performing Jones' 'Just Once'. Known for his OST contributions, Crush delivered 'Sleepless Night' from 'It's Okay, That's Love' and 'Sorry, I Hate You, I Love You' from the recent hit 'Queen of Tears', transporting listeners into the drama's scenes. His energetic rendition of 'EZPZ' will also be featured on the show.
The music talk show KBS 'The Seasons - Lee Young-ji's Rainbow' airs on October 22 at 10 PM on KBS 2TV.
