Actress Jung So-min Shares Her Thoughts on the Conclusion of 'Mom's Friend's Son'
Actress Jung So-min has shared her thoughts on the conclusion of the tvN weekend drama 'Mom's Friend's Son' (directed by Yoo Je-won, written by Shin Ha-eun, produced by Studio Dragon & The Modori), which aired its 15th and final episodes on the 5th and 6th of this month.
In the 15th episode, Baek Seok-ryu (played by Jung So-min) received permission from both sets of parents to date Choi Seung-hyo (played by Jung Hae-in). Seok-ryu was caught by her parents while dating Seung-hyo. Despite their opposition, she pulled Seung-hyo into her room through the window. When Seung-hyo proposed to her, she replied, "If you reject such a proposal, are you even human? You'd be a doll," promising marriage and stirring the romantic cells of viewers.
Meanwhile, Seok-ryu's heartwarming concern for her father, Bae Geun-sik (played by Jo Han-chul), who was closing down the snack shop he had run all his life, brought smiles. Seok-ryu fulfilled her role as the eldest daughter by telling Geun-sik, "If you're ever troubled or feeling cold, you must let me know."
Additionally, Seok-ryu expressed her desire to become a chef, saying, "I want to feed people my real food. I want to boil happiness in a pot." Her journey towards her dream, combined with Jung So-min's unique bright energy and the character's positive strength, brought warmth to the audience.
Towards the end of the broadcast, Seok-ryu called Seung-hyo to the playground. She handed him a homemade dish, promising to provide him with an endless supply of the labor-intensive dish, creating a heartwarming proposal.
In the 16th and final episode, Seok-ryu was moved by the positive feedback on her cooking vlog, where she shared her recipes. She was particularly touched by a comment from someone seeking healthy food due to illness, and she proudly announced her plan to open her own restaurant, feeling she had achieved her true dream.
Seok-ryu suggested to Seung-hyo that they postpone their wedding for a year and proposed organizing a reminder wedding for his parents. Watching their parents' reminder wedding, Seok-ryu and Seung-hyo shared a happy moment, lifting the spirits of viewers.
Towards the end of the show, Seok-ryu and Seung-hyo engaged in a cute lovers' quarrel and went to see their future home, ending on a happy note that thrilled everyone. Jung So-min portrayed the romance with her childhood friend with realistic acting, capturing Seok-ryu's struggles, family conflicts, and love with delicate expressions and solid acting skills, drawing viewers into the story.
After the final broadcast on the 6th, Jung So-min expressed her feelings, saying, "I still feel the energy of the filming set, and it's hard to believe it's already over. The character Seok-ryu was very dear to me, and meeting her was a blessing. I hope viewers found empathy and comfort through the drama and Seok-ryu, and I sincerely thank everyone who loved 'Mom's Friend's Son' during its run."
