Hyori Lee and Sangsoon Lee Relocate to Seoul After 11 Years in Jeju
Singer Hyori Lee and her husband Sangsoon Lee have moved to Seoul after living in Jeju for 11 years.
According to Ten Asia's report on the 5th, the couple completed their move from Jeju to their home in Pyeongchang-dong, Seoul, at the end of September. Hyori and Sangsoon are expected to spend some time settling into their new home.
According to the real estate registry, the couple purchased a single-family home and an adjacent plot of land in Pyeongchang-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, for 6.05 billion won in cash last August. The house, which spans a total floor area of 100 pyeong, is composed of a basement and two above-ground floors. Hyori owns three-quarters of the property, while Sangsoon holds one-quarter. The interior was renovated to suit their lifestyle.
Hyori and Sangsoon began their life in Jeju in 2013, settling in Sogil-ri, Aewol-eup, as newlyweds. Hyori was affectionately nicknamed 'Sogil-dak' during this time. Their Jeju home was also featured on JTBC's 'Hyori's Homestay,' creating cherished memories with the public. The show's popularity led to an influx of tourists visiting their Sogil-ri home, prompting the couple to relocate within Jeju due to privacy concerns. After 11 years in Jeju, this marks their first time living in Seoul as a married couple. Previously, Hyori and Sangsoon announced their move to Seoul through YouTube channels, marking their first relocation in 11 years. Hyori appeared on broadcaster Park Myung-soo's YouTube channel last month, sharing her plans to move to Seoul. She expressed mixed emotions, saying, "I plan to take on more schedules in Seoul, but leaving Jeju is bittersweet. Once we decided to move, I felt sad for a month. The sounds of birds, the forest, and the sea became so precious."
Sangsoon also mentioned on Yoo Jae-suk's YouTube channel, "We're moving to Seoul. We've lived in Jeju for 11 years. We want to work harder and live more diligently, but we'll always miss Jeju." He added, "We've rented our Jeju home to a friend."
Meanwhile, Pyeongchang-dong, adjacent to Bukhansan Mountain, is considered one of Korea's two major traditional affluent neighborhoods, along with Seongbuk-dong. It is home to many government officials and power figures, as well as celebrities like actors Choi Soo-jong and Ha Hee-ra, Yoo Hae-jin, Kim Hye-soo, and singers Seo Taiji and Yoon Jong-shin.
