Recently, Jennie made headlines with her dramatic transformation to blonde hair, which received mixed reactions from fans and the public. At the Chanel 2025 S/S show in Paris, she paired her blonde look with a sky-blue dress, which was critiqued as experimental and unsuccessful. Critics noted that the blonde hair, makeup, and outfit colors did not harmonize well.

Despite the criticism, Jennie drew attention by officially tagging the staff involved in the styling.

Jennie also found herself embroiled in a controversy over alleged racial discrimination. A video from the Chanel show featured American actress Margaret Qualley touching Jennie's hair and asking if it was real. Jennie replied that it wasn't, to which Qualley responded, "It looks real."

This interaction sparked discomfort among many international fans, who accused Qualley of making racially insensitive remarks. They argued that questioning the authenticity of an Asian's blonde hair, which is naturally unlikely, could be seen as a form of racial discrimination.

Jennie has also announced her comeback with a solo single on November 11, following a partnership with Columbia Records. She teased the comeback concept on social media with the phrase "CALLING ALL PRETTY GIRLS" and a short video.
