Director Lee Eon-hee Shares Experience Working with Actress Kim Go-eun in 'Love in the Big City'
Director Lee Eon-hee shared her thoughts on working with actress Kim Go-eun.
On the 24th, Lee Eon-hee conducted an interview at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, discussing various aspects of her film 'Love in the Big City'.
'Love in the Big City' is based on the novel by author Park Sang-young and tells the story of Jae-hee (played by Kim Go-eun), a free spirit who knows no boundaries, and Heung-soo (played by Noh Sang-hyun), who is accustomed to distancing himself from the world. The film was invited to the 49th Toronto International Film Festival, one of the world's top four international film festivals, where it received critical acclaim.
During the interview, Director Lee shared the inspiration behind adapting 'Love in the Big City' into a film, saying, "Reading is my hobby. I had read previous works by Park Sang-young and enjoyed them immensely. When I saw his new work, I read it as well. Unlike before, where I enjoyed the book as a reader, while reading the part about Jae-hee in 'Love in the Big City', I thought, 'This is something I could make into an interesting film.'"
Director Lee expressed her affection for Kim Go-eun, who played the role of Jae-hee. She said, "Kim Go-eun started this project right after finishing 'Pamyo'. She's young, beautiful, and talented—I'm really envious. It was an immense joy as a director to capture such qualities in my film," adding, "Kim Go-eun is incredibly smart and has great sense."
'Love in the Big City' is set to be released on the 1st of next month.
