Yoo Ah-in has undergone his first police investigation following allegations of sexual assault against a man in his 30s
Actor Yoo Ah-in (38, real name Uhm Hong-sik) has undergone his first police investigation following allegations of sexual assault against a man in his 30s.
According to police on the 29th, the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul summoned Yoo at around 6:30 PM the previous day for a 1.5-hour questioning session.
The accuser, identified as Mr. A (30), claimed that Yoo sexually assaulted him while he was asleep in an officetel in Yongsan District, Seoul, on the 14th of last month. Mr. A stated that he realized he had been assaulted upon waking and subsequently filed a complaint with the Yongsan Police Station. Under current law, same-sex sexual assault is classified as quasi-rape.
Previously, Yoo's legal representative, lawyer Bang Jung-hyun, stated, "The allegations against Yoo Ah-in are not true," and urged the public to refrain from unnecessary speculation regarding Yoo's private life.
Yoo is also currently on trial for habitual drug use. The police are considering the possibility that Yoo committed the alleged assault while under the influence of drugs.
Yoo is facing charges for allegedly using medical propofol under the guise of cosmetic procedures 181 times between September 2020 and March 2022 at various hospitals in Seoul. Prosecutors have requested a four-year prison sentence for Yoo as of the 24th.
