Go Joon-hee, who was embroiled in Burning Sun rumors, returns to acting
On the 7th, her agency, Inuer Entertainment, released behind-the-scenes cuts of Go Jun-hee's practice session, showing her immersive performance for her first 'Angels in America'.
'Angels in America' is a work by Tony Kirshner that premiered in 1991 and depicts the chaos and fear of the end of the century before the new millennium in a narrative where reality and fantasy intersect. Set in 1980s America, the story of five social minorities with diverse identities who experience discrimination and confusion poses essential questions about life to the audience as it moves between reality and fantasy.
Go Joon-hee plays Harper Pitt, a woman addicted to the drug Valium who creates imaginary characters in her fantasies to ignore her problems. She is a character who faces dilemmas as she goes through emotional upheaval.
In the released photos, Go Joon-hee is calmly focused on the character's situation, and her eyes express joy and sorrow. When Harper is in extreme conflict, her eyes are filled with pain and suffering, but when she is in a hallucination and lets go of the weight of life for a moment, her face shows a sense of pleasure.
In another photo, Go Joon-hee adds to the liveliness with refreshing movements that make full use of her signature long arms.
It is said that Go Joon-hee, who has challenged herself on stage for the first time since her debut, has not let go of the script in her hands not only during practice time but also in her daily life, and has fully understood the work and its theme, and based on this, she has been constantly practicing in sync with the character from every facial expression to the tips of her fingers, making every effort to prepare for the performance.
Go Joon-hee's first performance of 'Angels in America' can be seen at the LG SIGNATURE Hall of the LG Arts Center Seoul at 7:30 PM on the 7th.
Recently, Go Joon-hee appeared on the YouTube entertainment show 'Salty Brother Shin Dong-yup' and confessed the pain she had suffered from the Burning Sun rumors. She explained, "I didn't even know what the Burning Sun incident was. Because of the photo I took with that friend (Seungri) in 2015, I became the 'older sister who went to New York' mentioned in the Burning Sun controversy because we were from the same agency."
