Areum from T-ara sent to prosecution on child abuse charges
Areum (real name Lee Areum) from T-ara was sent to the prosecution on charges of child abuse.
According to the Gwangmyeong Police Station in Gyeonggi Province on the 4th, Areum was transferred to the Ansan Branch of the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office on charges of violating the Child Welfare Act (child abuse and child abandonment and neglect).
Areum's mother was also handed over to the prosecution on charges of drug abuse of a minor, and the mother and daughter were banned from accessing their children until July 21st.
Areum previously revealed that her ex-husband had treated her children harshly, such as spitting in their faces or defecating on their faces. Afterwards, she sued her ex-husband for child abuse, but the indictment was dismissed. In this regard, it was predicted that the children's statements were likely prompted by Areum.
In addition, Areum posted a recording of a conversation with her eldest son on social media and claimed it was evidence of child abuse, but the police investigation did not prove Areum's claim.
After leaving T-ara, Areum married a businessman two years her senior in 2019 and had two sons, but announced that she was filing for divorce in December of last year. At the same time, she also reported that she was dating a new boyfriend.
However, Areum was embroiled in suspicions that she and her new boyfriend had demanded money for their son's medical expenses. In response, Areum denied this and said, “I was hacked.”
