Kang Dong-won “I lost up to 68 kg to look sharp” [Interview ③]

Actor Kang Dong-won revealed that he lost weight to play the role of 'designer' Yeong-il.

On the 24th, an interview regarding the movie 'The Designer' was held at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, and various stories were told.

'The Designer' is a movie about the story of Yeong-il, a designer who manipulates a commissioned murder into an accidental death and gets caught up in an unexpected incident. It is based on the Hong Kong movie ‘Accident’ (2009).

Kang Dong-won gave a passionate performance as Yeong-il, a designer who manipulated the contract killings into accidental deaths. From his cold and chilly face, Youngil is portrayed as confused as he is unable to trust anyone.

On this day, Kang Dong-won said, "This genre usually includes a lot of action scenes, but there is almost no action. But it has the feel of an action movie," and added, "The subject matter of a contracted murderer disguising it as an accidental death was refreshing."

He then explained about 'Youngil', "I think he is like an entrepreneur. Isn't he the CEO of 'Samkwang Security'? He is also a person with a bit of a sociopathic personality."

The point of view is that you can see Kang Dong-won's cold face. He said, "I liked the cold expressions. There were always some points of regret, but I also saw areas of growth. I managed my weight to look sharp. I lost about 4kg, and I think I weighed 68kg at the time."

‘The Designer’ will be released on May 29th.
