Hyeonyoung, 17 billion won investment fraud

Broadcaster Hyunyoung suffered investment fraud.

According to the legal community on the 16th, Mr. A, who was sentenced to 10 years in prison on the 11th on charges of fraud under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes, recently submitted an appeal to the Incheon District Court. Mr. A is in the position that the first trial sentence is heavy. In addition, his son, Mr. B, who was indicted without detention on the same charge and sentenced to four years in prison and detained in court, also appealed.

However, the prosecution has not yet appealed and is considering whether to appeal the not guilty verdict of Mr. A's husband, Mr. C, who was also put on trial on charges of aiding and abetting their crime (aiding and abetting fraud).

At the decision hearing held on the 5th of last month, the prosecution requested 15 years in prison for Mr. A, and 7 years in prison and 3 years in prison for Mr. B and Mr. C, respectively.

Mr. A was arrested and indicted on charges of stealing 17.1 billion won from members of the Mom Cafe he ran from 2019 to 2022. At the time, it was reported that Hyeonyoung transferred 500 million won to Mr. A, saying, "I will pay 7% interest every month," but did not receive part of the principal back.
