Lee Hong-ki confesses to a rare disease, "There is no cure for hidradenitis suppurativa... I even canceled the concert."

Group FT Island Lee Hongki confessed that he suffers from a rare disease called hidradenitis suppurativa.

SBS's 'Strong Heart VS', which aired on the 16th, had a special feature called 'Blurry-Eyed Madman' in which singer and actress Nam Gyu-ri, FT Island's Lee Hong-ki, singers Jo Kwon, Yoon Soo-hyun, and Jeong I-rang appeared and talked.

On this day's broadcast, Lee Hong-ki introduced that the purulent hidradenitis campaign video he personally filmed had been viewed 1.16 million times.

Lee Hong-gi said, "There is no cure for hidradenitis suppurativa. It cannot be cured with modern medicine. Even if you squeeze it, it heals and then comes back. Many people are suffering from it, but I can't talk about it because I'm afraid people will laugh at it, think it's strange, and say, 'Didn't you wash it?'" He expressed his grievances.

Due to this kind of pain, when the offer to campaign for suppurative hidradenitis came in, he actively expressed his will. Lee Hong-ki said, "At some point, it broke out without me knowing. It was bleeding and pus was pouring out, and it was so severe that I had to carry a spare pair of panties. It wasn't the pain or the depth of the pain like acne. If there was a Santa Claus, I would say, 'I wish I could get my butt as a gift.' “It hurt so much,” he confessed.

It is said that more than 200,000 people suffer from this disease in Korea alone. Lee Hong-ki said, “When I was in middle school, I got an infection on my buttocks that was the size of a fist.”

Because of this, Lee Hong-ki, who said that he experienced many hardships during his broadcast activities, said, "There was a time when I couldn't go out to the recording of 'Star King' by myself because I couldn't sit down. There was a time when a concert was canceled," and "I filmed the campaign while talking about those experiences. It was an embarrassing thing." He said, “I’m confident and I even named the YouTube channel together.” Lastly, he emphasized, “This is not something to be embarrassed about, so go to the hospital with confidence.”
