The Coalition for Culture and Artists issues a statement clarifying the truth about the case of the late Lee Sun-kyun.

Bong Joon-ho, Lee Won-tae, director Jang Hang-jun, singer and composer Yoon Jong-shin, and actors Kim Eui-seong and Choi Deok-moon will hold a press conference today (12th) to demand the truth about the case of Lee Sun-gyun, who died while an investigation into drug use charges was underway.

Today (12th), the Cultural Artists' Solidarity Conference will issue a statement titled 'The demands of cultural artists facing the death of the late actor Lee Sun-kyun' at the Korea Press Center in Jung-gu, Seoul.

Director Bong Joon-ho, who worked with Lee Sun-kyun in 'Parasite', director Lee Won-tae, who directed 'The Villain', and director Jang Hang-jun, who directed 'Rebound', etc. attended. Additionally, actor Kim Eui-seong and singer Yoon Jong-shin, who appeared in 'Spring in Seoul', will also be present. Actor Choi Deok-moon, who worked with Lee Sun-kyun in 'Killing Romance' and 'Hwacha', also appears. In addition, cultural and artistic officials will attend. The Cultural Artists' Solidarity Conference was formed around 29 culture and arts-related organizations.

The Cultural Artists' Solidarity Meeting said, "Facing the unfortunate death of the late actor Lee Seon-kyun on December 27, we agree that something like this should never be repeated again and demand a thorough truth about the investigation process of the investigative authorities. “We plan to call for clarification, the media’s efforts to self-reflect, demand the deletion of articles that do not meet the purpose of reporting, and enactment and revision of current laws to protect the human rights of cultural artists,” he said.

Lee Sun-kyun was under police investigation on suspicion of drug use. Meanwhile, at around 10:30 on December 27 last year, he was found unconscious in a car at a park in Jongno-gu. One lightning bullet was found in the passenger seat. Lee Sun-kyun's ashes were placed at Samsung Elysium in Gwangju, Gyeonggi-do.
