New Jeans achieves the feat of winning Billboard’s ‘K-Pop Global Artist’ award [2023 BBMAs]

Girl group New Jeans won 'Top Global K-Pop Artist' at the '2023 Billboard Music Awards'.

The '2023 Billboard Music Awards' (2023 BBMA) was held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, USA on the morning of the 20th (Korean time).

Previously, New Jeans was nominated for the 'BBMA' award just one year after its debut, and achieved the feat of being the most nominated K-pop artist. In particular, they had the honor of winning the ‘Top Global K-Pop Artist’ category.

The 'Top Global K-Pop Artist' category is a new award category created this year, with four new K-Pop categories including 'Top K-Pop Tour', 'Top K-Pop Album', and 'Top Global K-Pop Song'. In the 'Top Global K-Pop Artist' category, New Jeans, BTS Jimin, Stray Kids, Tomorrow by Together, and Twice were nominated.

In addition, New Jeans was awarded ‘Top Billboard Global (Excl. US) Artist’, ‘Top Global K-Pop Artist’, ‘Top Global K-Pop Artist’, and ‘Top K-Pop Album’. It was nominated for a total of 5 nominations in 4 categories, including (Get Up) and 'Top K-Pop Song' (Ditto, OMG).

Also, on this day, New Jeans was the first K-pop girl group to perform at the 'Billboard Music Awards'. They performed 'Super Shy' and 'OMG', which entered Billboard's main single chart 'Hot 100'.

Meanwhile, the 'Billboard Music Awards' is considered one of the three major award ceremonies in the American pop music industry, along with the 'Grammy Awards' and the 'American Music Awards'.
