Song Hye-kyo takes the lead in promoting history
Actress Song Hye-kyo, together with Professor Seo Gyeong-deok of Sungshin Women's University, donated a large relief work of Dr. Myung-ha Cho to Taipei Korean School in Taiwan.
Professor Seo Gyeong-deok said on the 17th, "On this day, in celebration of Patriots' Day, I donated a large relief work of Dr. Cho Myung-ha to the Taipei Korean School in Taiwan with actress Song Hye-kyo." This was carried out as part of the ‘Korean Independence Activist Relief Donation Campaign’.
According to Professor Seo Gyeong-deok, this relief work was made of bronze measuring 80cm wide and 90cm tall. Doctor Jo Myung-ha was an independence activist who revealed to the world the nation's will for independence by sniping Kuninomiya Kuniyoshi, the Emperor's father-in-law and army captain, with a dagger in Taiwan. Professor Seo Gyeong-deok explained, “This is the seventh donation following the Lee Jun Memorial Hall in The Hague, the Netherlands, the Yun Bong-gil Memorial Hall in Shanghai, China, and the Kim Gu Refuge in Jiaxing, China.” He said, “I just hope that through this donation, the cause of Dr. Myung-ha Cho, which is not well known to the public, will become widely known.”
He also explained, "The situation of the independence movement historical sites remaining overseas is not very good. However, in times like this, paying more attention and visiting frequently is probably the most important way to protect our historical sites."
Professor Seo Gyeong-deok said, "For the past 12 years, through Seo Gyeong-deok's planning and Song Hye-kyo's support, we have donated Korean guides, Korean signboards, relief works, etc. to 35 Korean historical sites remaining overseas. So, we will work harder next year with Hye-kyo. “He said.
