The full-scale investigation begins... Ravi remains accused of avoiding military service
Recently, the 5th Criminal Division of the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office indicted 47 people who were suspected of or assisted in 'dodging military service' without detention on charges of violating the Military Service Act and obstructing the execution of official duties.
Among the list were volleyball player Jo Jae-sung and actor Song Deok-ho. These charges started with broker A. Those exempted from military service paid 30 to 60 million won to Broker A. This is for military service exemption and physical grade adjustment.
Broker A received money from them and issued false medical certificates related to epilepsy. Broker A revealed that he helped Ravi get a reduction in military service during the prosecution's investigation. In fact, Ravi was designated as a social worker for 'health reasons'. As the news became known, the investigation related to the allegations received attention. However, Ravi's name was not included in this investigation.
An official from his agency, Groovlin, said, "We plan to work diligently with regard to the military service corruption investigation," and added, "We have not yet received a call to submit to a prosecution investigation."
When Ravi was excluded from the investigation, attention focused on his background. In response, the prosecution said, "We are investigating those suspected of evading military service. We have only announced the results of an interim investigation, and this does not mean that the charges have disappeared. They may be subject to indictment in the future."
As a result, the controversy surrounding Ravi still remains. Although he was not included in the indictment, the investigation into Ravi's 'exemption from military service' continues.
Ravi is currently reacting cautiously regarding the ‘military service corruption’. Although about a month has passed since the controversy broke out, no official position has been released. If there is something unfair, it is time for a clear explanation. This is because the general statement that “we will faithfully participate in the investigation” is nothing more than a narrow-minded statement.
The possibility of prosecution is open. If the charges are acknowledged in the future, there is a possibility of re-service. Even if you complete supplementary duty, you must serve again unless you are sentenced to more than 1 year and 6 months in prison. Prosecutors have already begun punishing ‘military service evaders’. Ravi's turn is also slowly approaching.
