The Chinese media was outraged by the unauthorized use of a Chinese actress in a promotional magazine. The promotional paper was created to advertise Korean entertainment establishments. The front features the face of famous Chinese actor Jing Tian.
The text reads '24-hour lingerie shirt room', and at the bottom, the sensational words '150 female college students compete with sizes on standby' are attracting attention.
A promotional sheet containing Jingtian's face. This fact became known through the SNS of Mr. A, a Chinese student studying abroad. Mr. A posted a promotional leaflet, and later Chinese media outlets reported it, and the controversy grew. In particular, China's Weibo reacted sharply, saying, "There are many stolen photos of Chinese actresses," and "It's very unpleasant."

After the news became known, Jingtian's agency released a statement. It was impossible to hide the anger on the face of the actor whose company was used without permission. The agency criticized, “This incident seriously damages the portrait rights and reputation of Chinese celebrities.”
He then warned, “In order to protect our rights and interests, we will contact the relevant organizations as soon as possible and make arrangements to hold them legally accountable,” and warned, “Please do not distribute the photos any more.”
Even domestically, public opinion was formed in support of China's response. This is because there are many records of victims of 'unauthorized theft'. The crime of 'unauthorized theft' is closely related to China. In the past, China illegally stole the portrait rights of Yoon Eun-hye, Hyun Bin, and Lee Min-ho to promote its own shopping malls.
Additionally, there has been a recent history of Chinese web novel writers using illustrations on the covers of Korean web novels without permission. The number of cases of illegal copying without obtaining commercial permission or paying copyright fees is increasing every year.
Although he suffered damage due to unauthorized theft, he committed the same crime. Knowing the seriousness of the crime, it became even more embarrassing. Unauthorized use is a clear crime. We need to be vigilant in order to avoid a repeat of the controversy.
