‘The Glory’ PD suspected of school violence, time for neutral gear

While allegations of school violence were raised against PD Ahn Gil-ho, who directed the Netflix series 'The Glory', which deals with school violence, PD Ahn denied that "no such thing happened."

On the 10th, Mr. A posted an article on 'Hey Korean', a community site for Koreans living in the United States, claiming that he was assaulted by PD Ahn in the Philippines in 1996.

In the article, Mr. A claimed that he was assaulted by producer Ahn Gil-ho, who was in his third year of high school when he was in his second year of middle school in the Philippines. The story is that Mr. A and his friends harassed and made fun of his girlfriend, who was dating producer Ahn Gil-ho, and that PD Ahn, along with 15 of his friends, called a group of Mr. A and assaulted him for two hours.

In relation to this, producer Ahn Gil-ho stated that although it is true that he studied abroad in the Philippines for about a year, he never had any physical conflicts with Korean students. In an interview with Yonhap News, he said, "No matter how much I think about it, I don't remember hitting anyone in a group."

However, judging from Mr. A's claim, even if the same violence as PD Ahn claimed was committed against Mr. A's group, it is interpreted that the fact was not a case of school violence, but rather an act of revenge for the damage done to his girlfriend. Also, considering that Mr. A's group first bullied his classmate's girlfriend, many believe that it is Mr. A's group that is responsible for the school violence.

Given that the incident did not occur repeatedly without any reason, it is difficult to view it as simple school violence, and since the claims of both sides are conflicting, some say that the situation should still be observed from a neutral perspective. In relation to this, Netflix also released a brief statement saying, “We are verifying the facts.”

Meanwhile, Part 2 of 'The Glory', directed by PD Ahn Gil-ho, was released at 5 pm on the 10th.
