Won Jin-ah "Weeping loudly after the first performance of 'Faust'"
Interview with Won Jin-ah as Gretchen in the play ‘Faust’

Won Jin-ah met with Ten Asia at the LG Arts Center Seoul in Gangseo-gu, Seoul on April 6 and told various stories related to the play 'Faust'.
'Faust', which opened on March 31, is a reinterpretation of the play completed over 60 years by the great German writer Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Through Faust's imperfect actions and choices, direction and inspiration for an imperfect life are presented.
Won Jin-ah plays Gretchen in the original cast. Gretchen falls in love with the young Faust whom she meets by chance. He faces a crisis that puts his entire family and himself in danger.
Won Jin-ah, who attempted her first play, said, "I was amazed after the first performance of 'Faust'. I couldn't believe it was a performance. In fact, I cried loudly after the performance. For the first time in my life, I thought, 'Why did I do this?' or 'I like it!' “It was a strange feeling,” he confessed.

He continued, "When I performed to an empty auditorium, my body would rock forward and backward. I lost all strength in my body and felt like I was floating. But when I saw the auditorium was full, I didn't fall forward and it felt strange, as if I had been hit by a long wind. "I thought this was what it was like to receive energy from an audience. I couldn't understand it in my head before I felt it, but I felt it in my body after the first performance," he added.
Won Jin-ah, who said she practiced intensely, said, "It's not the first time the seniors have performed, but they were crying after the first performance. I was touched, saying we worked hard. I also thought the audience was scary. I think the audience and viewers are always evaluating. “But when I saw the eyes shining in the dark, it wasn’t a scary thing. For the first time that day, the eyes watching me weren’t scary. On the contrary, they were warm,” he said, laughing.
Won Jin-ah said, "Before the first performance, worry and fear dominated me. I was performing with great seniors, but I was worried about what I would do if I stood out alone among them. This time, the worry was particularly severe. Although I had worries and fears, I finished the performance. “When I got off the stage, I felt like I was really worried for nothing. I felt closer to the character, so I felt hopeful,” he explained.
Also, "I appear briefly in the first act. It's my first time appearing on stage and I'm close to the audience. I hear people in the audience saying, 'Oh~~'. Maybe it's strange that I'm on stage, but the audience at the front say 'Uh, uh, uh.' ' That was audible to my ears. From then on, I tried to gain confidence and just come to my senses," he said.
Meanwhile, the play 'Faust' starring Won Jin-ah will be performed until April 29.
