Dissatisfaction with K-pop concerts is rising among some overseas fans. While K-pop is enjoying great popularity in Southeast Asia, high ticket prices have become a problem.

According to local media MGR Online on the 3rd (local time), the average price of K-pop concerts sold in Thailand this year is around 5,270 baht (208,000 won).

Compared to the price in 2019 (176,000 won) before the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19), it showed a 17.9% increase.

Overseas fandom expressed pressure over the rising ticket prices. Their argument is that there are no special benefits here.

In fact, the price of VIP tickets for Blackpink's concert in Thailand is known to be 14,800 baht (583,000 won). Blackpink will hold a concert at Rajamangala National Stadium, Thailand's largest concert hall, on the 27th and 28th.

In addition, the ticket price for JYJ Kim Jaejoong's Asian tour is 143,000 won for first class seats and 132,000 won for second class seats. In the case of the boy group Ateez, even if you receive a discount on ticket prices through membership, you have to pay 340,000 won.

Even with ticket prices rising rapidly, there are no adequate measures to protect consumers. This is because the government cannot regulate ticket prices.

Reduced sponsorship is cited as the reason for the increase in ticket prices. The industry analyzed that sponsors were responsible for 70% of concert costs 10 years ago, but the proportion itself has decreased to below 30%.
