The 'English' boom is blowing in the music industry. Recently, following 'Fifty Fifty', various idol groups from 'Le Seraphim' to 'Wei' are scrambling to release original Korean songs and then release English versions as well.

On the 11th, girl group LE SSERAFIM released the song 'Eve, Psyche, and _' for the Open Verse Challenge of 'Eve, Psyche, and Blue Beard's Wife (English ver.)' on their official SNS. The song is the first English song released by Le Seraphim since their debut, and member Heo Yun-jin translated the Korean lyrics directly into English to complete the lyrics.

The Korean version of 'Eve, Psyche, and Bluebeard's Wife' broke its own record by ranking 66th on the 'Billboard Global 200' and 36th on 'Billboard Global (excluding the US)'. Thanks to the original Korean song, Le Seraphim also held an 'Open Verse Challenge' where fans could directly write lyrics for the English version of the song. This is a challenge method that is so popular that it has swept North American trends on the global platform TikTok.

Following Le Seraphim, WEi also released an English version of the original Korean song. On the 10th, WEi released the English version of the title song 'OVERDRIVE' of the 6th mini album 'Love Pt.3: Eternally'. It is also the first time that Wii releases a song in English. Wii said, "We will continue to gain global popularity and interest not only in Korea but also abroad by releasing an additional English version of 'OVERDRIVE'."

Previously, in an interview for this activity, WEi expressed their aspirations to become "the Billboard 'Hot 100' chart", which is the main Billboard chart and the aspiration of many K-pop singers. Releasing a song in the English version like this can be seen as an activity aimed at becoming an overseas fandom and a Billboard chart-in.

In April, girl group 'FIFTY FIFTY' also released 'Cupid' in both Korean and English versions. Among them, the English version made it into the Billboard'Hot 100' by word of mouth from overseas fans on short-form platforms such as TikTok. As of the 11th, it ranked 24th on the Billboard 'Hot 100' for 4 consecutive weeks, and is still gaining popularity by breaking its own record for the longest entry by a K-pop girl group.

Lee Ki-hoon, a researcher at Hana Securities, said, “In addition to BTS’ No. 1 on the Billboard HOT100, the whole of K-pop, the music shown through the corona, has seen the trickling effect of BTS through YouTube.” Hive and JYP, which are reaping significant results in the region, are in an era of 200 billion won in annual operating profit.”
