Joo Ho-min sued the special teacher in charge of his son with autism. Mr. A, a special education teacher at an elementary school in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, is currently on trial. In September of last year, Joo Ho-min's son suddenly lowered his pants in front of a female student and was separated for school violence. Afterwards, Joo Ho-min's wife sent her son to school with a tape recorder in his bag because he showed symptoms of anxiety, gathered evidence, and reported the teacher.

I am Lim Tae-hee, Superintendent of Education of Gyeonggi Province.
We would like to appeal to a special education teacher accused of abusing a developmentally disabled student at an elementary school in Gyeonggi-do to make a wise decision.
The special education field is in a difficult situation. Special education teachers often endure repeated violence, inappropriate physical contact, and even cleaning up urine and feces alone. These things are not something that can be done only with a sense of mission. We can survive only when we have sincerity and love for students with disabilities and parents' trust and support.
School is a place where all students are equally cared for and educated, not just specific students. Therefore, as important as my rights are, I educate them to respect the rights of other students as well. I fully understand the feelings of parents who worry about their children. However, the reality is that it is difficult for special education to continue without considering the special circumstances of the special education field.
If many things that happen in a complicated situation are complaints and criticisms against teachers, and if we go beyond educational solutions and rely on legal solutions, it is clear that the damage will eventually go to other disabled students and parents who need special education. .
I think the conclusion of this case is not a matter of individual teachers, but something that can affect the entire public education system. If teachers who work with a sense of duty in the field lose their will, or if trust between the school community collapses, the school education field is bound to be shaken from the root.
